Borrello says what should be a "hopeful" time as legislative session begins, tempered by Democrats wanting to "Trump Proof" New York...
A local state lawmaker says the start of a new legislative session is normally a good time to "enter with hopefulness about doing good." However... State Senator George Borrello says it's disappointing that Democrats in the legislature began the session by focusing on how they're going to "Trump-proof" New York. Borrello says he's not really sure what that means, but adds that it's not what New Yorkers are concerned about. He says it's affordability... and, the on-going crime and migrant crisises. He believes Donald Trump would do good things to help New York, if given the chance. The Sunset Bay Republican says the Democratic proposals he has seen would only get in the way of deporting illegal immigrants, an issue the President-elect campaigned on. Borrello says people who are here illegally, and who are jailed, need to be deported because it's cost money... and in some cases lives. In a social media post... he says the focus should be on "what really matters to New Yorkers." The 2025 legislature session gets fully underway tomorrow with Governor Kathy Hochul's annual State of the State message.

JPS among those affected by cybersecurity incident involving "PowerSchool..."
Many world-wide clients of the "PowerSchool" student information systems -- including the Jamestown Public Schools -- experienced a cybersecurity incident last Tuesday. District officials say they were told that the incident involved unauthorized access to certain information back on Dec. 28. JPS adminstrators say they took part in a detailed debrief by PowerSchool about the data event to learn more information and more information will be released to district constituents when as it becomes available. PowerSchool notified law enforcement, locked down the system and engaged the services of CrowdStrike and Cyber Steward. They told JPS officials that the data accessed primarily includes student, parent, and staff contact information such as name, address, and phone numbers. JPS does not retain social security numbers in PowerSchool, and no financial information was included in the data event.
